Language Differences
“It’s ‘pharmacie’” she said.
“I have to go the chemist,” she said.
“I have to go to the chemist,’ she said.
“AHA!!? In American English, we say, “Pharmacy!”
In spite of the fact that Australians speak the same language as the Americans, there are still some differences between the Australian English and the American English.? Let me first tell a favorite story.? A year ago, when I was in France and staying with a friend.? My friend wanted to practice her English and so, she spoke English to me.? She said, “I have to go the chemist.”
Well, I’m now finally see the real word, “chemist” in Australia!
I told her to tell me the French word for “chemist.”
“What do you mean that you have to go to the chemist,” I asked.
‘Huh?”? I said.
“Chemist” is not the only word that I have noticed that we say differently in America.? “Lift” and “Way Out” are other examples.? In American, we say “elevator” instead of “lift” and for “way out,” we say “exit.”,Replica Chanel;
